Worst pain there is

I'm intrigued by these ads I've seen for the Bagelfuls (is that what they're called? The frozen bagels in tube form that have the cream cheese inside?). I'm a big bagel lover, so I'm tempted to try them. Especially if they come in an everything bagel flavor. I LOVE a good everything bagel. I've actually run down old ladies to get to one before. True story. But, as a society, I'm kind of sad that we've come to the point where we think it's too much of a hassle to heat up a bagel, apply cream cheese and carry it around. Of all the difficulties humankind has faced, I would have ranked bagel preparation and portability as pretty low on the list, but I could be wrong about that. It's sort of like when I found out they were making frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the crust cut off. Like, really? It's that much of a bother to make a pb&j anymore? But, really, I shouldn't talk. I have had many a night where I've made J eat cereal for dinner with me because heating up a pizza seemed like too much work. I am no Martha Stewart, that's for sure.

I agree completely...I saw the commercial for the Bagelfuls and it honestly just looks gross to me...I am one of those people, though, that asks for my cream cheese on the side b/c I like to put it on my bagel myself. I have not tried the pb&j frozen uncrustable things but I have heard they are good. EH loves pb&j sandwiches, but I am weird and make hers with natural peanut butter and jelly that has no added sugar (high fructose corn syrup BAD!). :)

My mother-in-law gets disappointed in me and J because we drink pop with high fructose corn syrup, but I keep telling her that I can't help it--I'm psychologically dependent on caffeine-free Coke. But I assure her that Lil J won't be drinking that stuff until he's too old for me to stop him.

I'm sorry. Bagelfuls? Are an abomination against man and nature. Frozen bagels in general are Just Not Right, but frozen bagels in the shape of a tube with stuff inside? The fact that someone actually thought this was a good idea may be one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse...

Of course, I lived in NYC for seven years, so I'm probably a wee bit overly militant about my bagels. :)

I guess its like a hot pocket with cream cheese? So probably much like hot pockets, ok in a pinch, but certainly no subsitute for the real thing. On the other hand, I'm all about anything that lets me multitask these days!

I've been trying to avoid the HFCS and other such ingredients b/c I am convinced that all the "other stuff" in our food is the reason for weight problems and maybe some illnesses. However, it is difficult to avoid it all the time...

You know, I've never had a real New York bagel, and I've always wanted to try one. I wonder if you can order good bagels on the internet.....

But, yes, I'm constantly trying to figure out how I'm going to feed Lil J healthy, good food that I can make after working all day. I refuse to poison the child with Hot Pockets (Death Pockets!), but how do you avoid preservatives altogether? It seems impossible.

I agree, Jocelyn, frozen bagels are not good...their texture too much like bread.

I just try not to buy a lot of mixes (i.e. Hamburger Helper, etc.)..I figure that is a good way to limit all the "stuff" we eat.

That is. And I don't buy frozen dinners anymore because the sodium content in those things makes my blood pressure rise just looking at it. You know, honestly, I'm surprised I'm still alive considering all the frozen burritos I ate in grad school.

I've tried the Bagelfuls (I had a coupon and they were on sale). I got the strawberry ones, and "Eh" they weren't that great. They are over priced, I didn't like the taste of the cream cheese inside, and they aren't very big. You can buy nice bagles and good tasting cream cheese for the same price as 4 Bagelfuls. And, there are holes in either end, so as you eat it, the cream cheese squeezes out of the bottom. Not good. I vote "Pass" on them unless there is a free plate of them on the counter at work ;)
