Yeah, it's mostly the breathing. Early in the night, he keeps flipping over onto his back and then he has trouble breathing and starts crying. I feel so bad for him, but he's waking up so often that I'm only sleeping about 4 or 5 hours a night and it's starting to wear on me.
If J is willing, maybe he can sleep he can sleep in a different room with the monitor (one night, every other night, whatever!) so that you can get some sleep. It was hard for me, but Mike had to do that for me sometimes so that I could get some sleep. And now the monitor sits on Mike's nightstand or I would wake up at every little noise!
I like Katie's idea...you have to share the getting up or you will go insane. I couldn't have the monitor even in our room b/c I would wake up everytime she rolled over and breathed heavy. But, our house at the time was so small that we could hear her cry easily from anywhere. Is it worth taking a 1/2 day sick time to go home and sleep??
Our house is small enough that I hear Lil J's noises, and that's part of the problem. J will get up with him until about midnight, but every time Lil J cries, I still wake up. So there's really no time when I get to just sleep. And I'm out of sick time and really low on vacation time from all the hospital visits, so I don't think I can miss any more work. Maybe I could give my Mom $50 to come over one afternoon and give me a break...
Would having him sleep sitting up help? Do you have a swing or a carseat you could get him to sleep in? When my little guy was an infant he got a ton of upper respiratory infections (ah, daycare) and sometimes the only thing that worked was to let him sleep in the swing. We used to just drag into our bedroom and let it swing all night. I know "they" say not to let them spend too much time in swings and car seats, but "they" don't have to get up and go to your job in the morning.
Anyway, I feel your pain. Harrison has another upper respiratory infection (ah, daycare) and spent the whole night coughing himself awake and then wailing until I came in.
I keep waiting for the day when Lil J enjoys his swing, but from day one, he has NOT liked that thing. We could try the car seat though. It's definitely worth a shot. I just wish he didn't always want to sleep on his back. If he was a stomach sleeper, I think he'd do so much better. Sigh.
EH NEVER liked a swing, but she did love her bouncy seat! Especially when we turned on the vibrations (no rude comments, please!). :) She also slept in her carseat when she was sick.
If J is getting up with him, it may help to wear ear plugs. For me, if I knew my hubby was getting up with the baby I was able to relax, and the earplugs were a God send.

Oh no! Is it because of his breathing problem? Is he possibly teething?
Oh, Ann! I'm so sorry!

When will he grow out of this???

Hopefully your mom would do that for free :) But really, that is what you need!
On the weekend, could J take lil J over to his mom's for a while so you can nap?

The car seat is a great idea! And if necessary... pop him in the car and drive around the block a few times until he falls back asleep!

Good Luck. It will get better!
