Make like a tree, and get out of here

Lil J and I just got back from Target, and it was not quite the picnic of a trip. He started crying when I stopped to look for coffee creamer (which I never found. What kind of store doesn't carry creamer? What do they put in their coffee? Milk? Heathens), and he didn't stop until we got about 2 minutes from the house. Ah well. You win some, you lose some. But I did get annoyed by this old woman in Target who stopped to tell me I must be holding him too much if he cries like that. Yeah, I hold something too much: my tongue, which is what that old coot should learn to do. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Gladys.

What is with people? You're a better person Ann, I would have said something nasty to her.

There is nothing better than unsolicited parenting advice...especially from STRANGERS! No creamer at Target? What kind of place is that?

It was only my belief that one should not hit the elderly that kept me from getting arrested.

And I still can't believe they didn't have creamer. What we need is one of those super Targets with groceries.

There are 5 Target Greatlands in the Greater Columbus Area.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified that we need a Target Greatland over here in the ghetto, because I don't want to drive 20 minutes to get to one.

You must be HOLDING HIM TOO MUCH?!?!?!? He's an INFANT! You can't possibly be holding him too much. Gah. I am indignant on your behalf.

I remember getting a couple of comments like that, and I had to remind myself that I live in the South now, and not in New York, where we were allowed to smack people like that.

Okay, this really has no relevance to your blog entry (that woman needed a slap!), but I’m making that éclair cake tonight (the one you told me your sister made). I found the recipe yesterday in my recipe box, and my craving started! I’m going to the store tonight, after I pick up Ben, then going straight home to make it! I can’t wait, YUM!

(this is the jamie you work with...i now have a gmail account...if you were wondering.)

Thank you! I didn't think it was possible to hold a 6-week-old too much either. I mean, geez,
I do put him down occasionally, but I think it's cruel to not pick up a baby this small when he wants to be held.

And, Jamie, you are going to love that cake! It's so light you can eat the whole thing in one sitting.

Hold little J as much as you want!!! He needs it and wants it and it will not spoil him. He was crying in Target b/c he is 6 weeks old and that's what he knows how to do at this point! Stupid people.
